“The Spit” at mouth of the North River in Scituate is an area where river current meets ocean swell. Add some sandbars just under the surface and we’ve got a wonderful area to experience a wide range of dynamic conditions.
This class will focus on boat control in the waves, launching and landing in surf, capsize and rescue in surf and dynamic water.
“The Spit” is best around low tide. We’ll time the trip to paddle out on the ebb and return on the flood with plenty of time to play around low tide.
This is an intermediate level class. Paddlers should have solid Level 2 skills and be proficient in wet exits and rescues. If you’re uncertain about your skill level, call us to discuss the requirements before signing up.
