This dry-land clinic will focus on planning, preparation and safety for those paddlers who want to venture out in the shoulder seasons (early spring and late fall).
The weather is variable, the water and air temperatures are often at odds and the risks and consequences are higher if you or a member or your group experiences an upset or capsize.
We will talk about risk assessment, trip planning, gear selection, and situational awareness when the conditions are less than ideal. Customers will have the opportunity to look at and try cold water gear as well as practice trip planning with an eye to group management and risk mitigation. We’ll discuss the symptoms and treatment of hypothermia and look at how the body responds to cold water immersion.
If you have your own cold water gear, bring it along for evaluation and inspection.
This is a FREE clinic, but please email or call us for reservations and directions!
